Flood - SSL 6056E

SSL 6056E mixing console
SSL 6056E mixing console

Solid State Logic mixing console with 56 input modules.
[SSL site | wiki]

While most songs on Machina were recorded on Billy's API Legacy board, the CRC had multiple consoles to choose from, so Flood ran a test- he transferred 2 songs onto tape with a Studer A820, which both mix rooms had, and ran those through each console with all faders on zero- no EQ, no panning- and onto DAT. The SSL's low-mid punch won out over the other 2 mixers (Neve VR72, and Billy's 80s Neve broadcast console). Although Billy wasn't a fan of SSLs, they used an API simulation mix bus, which kind of "de-SSL'd" it a bit.
